Exploring the Psychic Within Us

The word Psychic can be daunting. But, at the same time, it can be extremely exciting. When I speak to people about psychic premonitions or psychic readings, I typically get one of two responses; either they think it is a complete hoax or they are so excited they cannot wait to hear what their reading has in store for them. While neither side of the fence should be deemed right or wrong, I will say that with  my own experiences and talents psychic readings can most definitely be written down in my book as valid.

There are many different types of spiritual outlets within us all that can be classified as psychic, and within those outlets we can explore them ourselves with or without the help of a skilled professional. Some of these outlets include tarot cards. The tarot is an ancient practice use by many. The Tarot is a deck of 78 cards consisting of 5 suits, Swords, Cups, Pentacles, Wants and a permanent suit of Trump. You can use online tarot or you can purchase your own deck of Tarot cards. I have consistently seen a wide variety of tarot decks at book stores throughout the years in the “New Age” section. The varieties of Tarot, (though I believe that once you change the ‘suit’ they are no longer tarot, but serve the same purpose) include Oracle Cards, Angle cards and any other sort of Divination cards.

You can use the tarot to slowly begin opening your psychic senses within yourself, but of course you could also begin communicating with a professional psychic, your proverbial fortune teller. Once you gain a trusting relationship with them you can begin discussing different exercises and with a mentor begin to expand your  mind and consciousness together. Every person is and has psychic abilities, it just takes the know-how, the guidance, patience, encouragement and dedication. This can be hard to do if you do not have a support group encouraging you on your path.

Here at Following Dharma, this is exactly what my goal is. To create a like minded community of people who would like to expand their consciousness together and seek life’s greatest mysteries. I am open and willing to give you the guidance you need to expand your mind!

There are many steps to take before you dive right in to speaking with your spirit guides. So, have no fear. A lot of the prep work includes balancing your inner and outer lives. What this means is that one should be well rounded and happy in their work and home life, but also in their spiritual life. These extremely hard accomplishments can be attained through a series of guided meditations, relaxation exercises, self awareness, extreme consciousness (of the world around you) and more. Every post on this blog is dedicated to getting you in that direction, so read away my friends!

Psychic Visualization Test One: (Guided Meditation)

Find a comfortable space to which you will not be disturbed by people or animals for the next 15-30 minutes. And collect a pen and paper so that you can journal your experience as soon as you are finished. Be sure that the lights are low, if you  light candles or incense check for fire and safety hazards before you sit. Sit either on the floor, on a pillow or a chair and adjust yourself until you are extremely comfortable. Close your eyes and begin to focus in on your breath. Notice how your breath moves in and out of your body, and that it is uneven and not full. Begin to take control of your breathing and direct all of it through your nose, inhaling and exhaling through your nose. On your next inhale count to five and inhale for five long counts filling up the entirety of your lungs, and exhale for five long counts emptying your lungs as much as you can. Repeat this process until your breath is full and even for about 3 minutes.

After those three minutes, you should find yourself in an extremely peaceful state and you may slowly begin to lose focus on your breath and begin to bring focus to your minds eye, looking within yourself. If this is your first time, what that means is that you are looking to see what is beyond the backs of your eyelids while your eyes are closed. First, begin to imagine the most radiant white light you have ever seen streaming in from above and coming down towards you. Imagine that it begins to surround your body, starting with your head, face, neck, shoulders, then down to your hands and fingers. Actually feel this happening. The white light is the cosmic energy and consciousness that there is an unlimited supply of and that we are all allowed to have. Once you have surrounded your body with light and love, imagine in front of you a red rose that is completely closed. What do you see? Look for details, the petals, the leaves, what is behind it? Now, imagine that the rose begins to bloom and opens and twirls around. A beautiful sight, is it not?

After you have taken in the sights, slowly begin to regain focus on your breath, inhaling through the nose and out the nose. Doing these exercises for a few minutes and pulling your consciousness to your body and out of your mind will slowly bring you out of your meditative state. After you are completely aware of your breath, begin to wiggle your fingers and toes and then wake up the rest of your body. The very next thing you should do is journal your experiences.
